The
Harmonization of Songs (in Hebrew)
Two volumes. [Mofet Institute and Levinsky College of
Education]. Tel Aviv, 2005.
506 double pages [each volume contains an index of 18
double pages; 742 numbered musical illustrations plus
some hundreds of smaller, unnumbered ones]. |
|
 |
The method of harmonization of songs, developed by Tsippi
Fleischer as an organized and basic methodology during
decades of teaching, is presented in two volumes according
to the following rationale: Volume 1 - Fundamentals (coverage
of all the diatonic scales, including modes) Volume 2
- Applications and extensions (departure from tonality
- yet its reinforcement in jazz; arrangements and works
by composers). The book contains many musical examples
taken from Hebrew Song as well as from classical music
and popular world music. The various appendixes serve
for further clarification. [For excerpts from the various
chapters: TF/HirmunHeb.pdf]

The
Judgment of Solomon: An Interdisciplinary Approach to
a Biblical Story (in Hebrew)
Mofet Institute [Educational kit by development teams]
Tel Aviv, 2008. |
|
 |
The educatinal kit by Tsippi Fleischer and others, presented
as a book together with a CD Rom, serves as a model for
teaching of biblical subjects from different artistic
aspects. Fleischer's chapter An Operatic Scene in Video
- "The Judgment of Solomon" - From a Composer's desk
deals with three subjects: the compositional process,
constructive responses of many educators in connection
with the field of education and research following on
a video screening of the operatic scene The Judgment of
Solomon [op. 27]; and the composer's thoughts on additional
Biblical scenes which would benefit from a multimedia
treatment in schoolrooms. Educators in the field of Bible
studies, music and visual arts also participate in other
chapters. [For excerpts:

The
Development of Hebrew Song: A Musical-Historical Overview [provisional title]
(in Hebrew)
In preparation. |
|
 |
The period prior to the aliyot and until the beginning
of the second millennium is arranged and presented as
three stages:
I) Songs before the establishment of the State of Israel
II) Songs after the establishment of the State
III) Issues discussed from a number of cross-related angles.
The musical profiles - about 200 in number (of individuals
and of groups) are represented by textual/ musical analysis
of the songs' material, with an accent on their place
in history. Of note in these analyses is the diagnostic
differentiation between "melodists" and "harmonists".
